Lodge Assistant Mandarin Speaker

We are a small boutique lodge in Oamaru catering to mainly Chinese tourists.  We have 1 vacancy for a Lodge Assistant who can converse in Chinese Mandarin. This is a vital, front-facing role dedicated to ensuring our international guests feel at home from the moment they arrive. Many of our guests travel from East Asia, fluency in conversational Mandarin is an advantage and will allow you to provide a more personalized, culturally-aware experience liasing with this group of tourists.

This role is a part-time - hours depending on the international guests arrival. 

Key Responsibilities
- Guest Welcome Servicing: Greet, welcome and check in guests with a warm, professional manner, acting as the primary point of contact for their needs.
- Breakfast Service: Manage aspects of guest breakfast, including some preparation and setup.
Optional - Housekeeping: Support the housekeeping and cleaning team with room turnovers and general housekeeping duties to maintain our standards.

Requirements
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- A hands-on, proactive attitude with a high level of attention to detail.
- Passion and dedication in providing excellent service standards
- Adaptable
- Previous experience in a guest-facing hospitality or service role.
- Language: Conversational fluency in Mandarin is highly desirable to assist our East Asian clientele with inquiries and local recommendations.
 

We provide on-site accommodation - Accommodation with utilities in exchange for 1 hour of work per day. Applicant must be able to work for a minimum of 3 months, and start by early August.

Total hours per week depending on occupancy and ranging from 25-30 hours weekly.  Wages - $24 per hour
