New Zealand is a nation of animal, and in particular, horse lovers. So its no surprise that there are heaps of jobs and work exchanges working with horses. The type of jobs range from experienced racing stable grooms to family / horse helpers where you'll be trained on the job. The type of work is demanding and dirty and will be hard work, but there are also great perks such as free riding (or lessons sometimes). You will generally find most work to be in more rural areas obviously than in inner cities, so if you fancy a break from the rat race then this could be a great work option for you to explore. And of course a love of horses is not strictly necessary but goes a long, long way!
