Tractor Operating Australia!

Mills Recruitment is seeking two experienced Tractor Operators to join our Australian based client’s farming and contracting operation in regional Victoria for the upcoming season.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced machinery operators looking to experience an Australian broadacre farming operation, with work commencing in haymaking before progressing into cereal harvest. Depending on seasonal conditions, harvest is generally completed by the end of December.

About Our Client
Our client operates a diverse mixed farming and cropping enterprise in regional Victoria, growing a range of broadacre crops including wheat, barley, canola, chickpeas, field peas and vetch, alongside livestock.

Alongside their own farming operation, our client also undertakes contracting work for other local farmers, meaning the role offers plenty of variety and the opportunity to work across different properties, paddocks and cropping operations throughout the season.

The operation has a strong focus on practical, sustainable farming and making the most of modern agricultural practices and machinery. It is a busy, hands-on farming environment where operators are trusted to take responsibility for their machinery and get the job done.

Our client has previously employed two tractor operators from Denmark through Mills Recruitment. The experience was highly successful for both parties, with the operators thoroughly enjoying their time on the farm and our client being very pleased with their contribution. Following that positive experience, we are recruiting operators again for the upcoming season.

About The Role
The season will commence with haymaking, including medium-square hay operations, before transitioning into cereal harvest.
Responsibilities will include:

• Operating tractors and agricultural machinery throughout haymaking and harvest operations
• Operating tractors and implements associated with medium-square hay production
• Moving and handling hay and bales
• General tractor work across paddock and cropping operations
• Transporting machinery and equipment between properties and work sites
• Supporting general farm and contracting activities as required
• Transitioning into cereal harvest operations as crops become ready
• Operating a header/combine harvester during cereal harvest, depending on experience
• Operating a tractor and chaser bin to support grain harvesting operations
• Assisting with grain movement and general harvest logistics
• Carrying out routine machinery checks and ensuring equipment is maintained and operated safely

During harvest, one operator will primarily work in the header, while the second operator will operate the chaser bin, providing an opportunity for both operators to play an important role in the harvest operation.

About You We are looking for operators with previous experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery. Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:

• Broadacre cropping
• Haymaking and baling
• Medium-square hay
• Header/combine operation
• Chaser bin operation
• Grain carting
• General farm machinery operation

You will be a reliable and practical operator who takes pride in your work, is comfortable working independently and as part of a team, and understands the importance of operating and caring for machinery safely.
