Experienced Dairy Farm Assistant 

Start Immediate start available on a large, family-run dairy farm in Ashburton, Mid Canterbury.

We’re looking for someone who can come in and get involved from day one. You must already know how to milk and have previous dairy farming experience. Tractor experience is a big bonus as there is plenty happening outside the shed too.

One of the nice things about this farm is the team culture — everyone stops for morning smoko together and plenty of laughs!
 

• Immediate start
• 1,050 cows
• Modern 60-bail rotary
• 6 on / 2 off roster
• Approx. 90–110 hours per fortnight, 
• $27.00 per hour
• Shared 3-bedroom accommodation available
• $100 per week rent when shared
• Supportive, social family-run farm

About the Role
About the farm This is a well-run operation using plenty of technology, including Herd-man in-shed identification and Tru-Test Datamars collars for monitoring cow health, reproduction and mating.

The farm runs two main milking herds plus a once-a-day herd. Milking is an important part of the position, so we're specifically looking for someone who is already confident in a rotary shed.

The team takes pride in keeping a clean, well-run dairy shed and everyone works together to get the job done.
 

• Milking and shed duties
• Bringing cows in and general stock work
• Shed and plant wash-down
• Animal health monitoring
• Weed spraying
• Helping with young stock
• Tractor and machinery work where experienced
• General farm duties

What we're looking for

• Previous dairy farming experience is essential
• You MUST already know how to milk
• Confident working around large numbers of cows
• Tractor experience is a bonus
• Reliable and able to work as part of a team
• Good English communication
• Legal right to work in New Zealand
