Full Job Description

Located in Willowby, Mid Canterbury, just minutes from Ashburton, this is an excellent opportunity for an Experienced Dairy Assistant to join a well-established dairy operation milking 500 cows across 240 hectares. The farm uses modern technology including Allflex collars to support herd management and supplies Synlait Milk.

This is a genuine all-round farming role where you'll be involved in every aspect of the operation. From milking and animal health through to tractor work, tree planting, fencing, and maintaining the farm environment, you'll enjoy plenty of variety while working alongside a supportive team.

Details:
 

• Start Date: Flexible, start calving 25th July
• Permanent, full-time role
• Total Package: $63,000 including accommodation and internet 
• Roster: 8 days on / 2 days off over calving, 11 days on / 3 days off from 1st October
• Accommodation: Private single accommodation with own bedroom, bathroom, TV and lounge area, sharing the kitchen
• Rent: $100 per week (includes internet)
• Location: Willowby, Mid Canterbury

Tasks:
 

• Milking and daily shed operations
• Animal health and stock management
• Feeding out and general farm duties
• Tractor operation and effluent management
• Irrigation monitoring using lateral pivots and effluent rotorainer
• Planting native trees and environmental work
• Mowing, spraying thistles, and maintaining farm surrounds
• General farm maintenance and seasonal work

Requirements:
 

• Previous dairy farming experience essential
• Good stock sense and animal handling skills
• Tractor experience essential
• Positive attitude and willingness to be involved in all aspects of the farm
• Good English communication skills
• Full driver's licence preferred
• Legal right to work in New Zealand (AEWV not available)
