On the Shores of Lake Ohau nestled on 10 hectares is a 72 room Alpine Lodge. The owners have created an amazing recipe that has stood the test of time. Generation after generation return over winter to unwind and ski/board their hearts out. Summer is no slouch either, with the lodge being a prime stop for the Alps to Ocean cycle trail.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a bar person, you will play a key role in ensuring our guests have a memorable experience during their visit. 
As a true bar person, you are expected to have a current LCQ by the start date of the position. 
(This is a requirement for the role, please do not apply if you are unable to obtain this NZ qualification)

This position is available to start no later than 19 October 2026. 
Weekly hours and tasks fluctuate for spring with approx 30 hours per week. From January, expect to average 40. 
Minimum commitment until the end of April, with preference to those wanting to work until through the upcoming winter season.

In the bar, we have two duty managers to cover the full 7 days. Typically you will be the duty manager on at least two days of the week. Other bar shifts dependent on guest numbers with addition hours and support in the restaurant, doing a variety of morning and/or evening shifts.  Bar shifts are until close, and includes operating a safe yet profitable bar during functions and events.

Responsibilities:

• maintain well presented and clean bar environment
• reduce wastage and breakages by following recipes and best practices
• serving guests during meal periods
• coffee and tea service
• cleaning and clearing 
• general restaurant upkeep duties
• working with management to forecast resource, stock takes etc
• work with kitchen, restaurant, and reception to understand guest needs
• provide safe supply of alcohol following all required laws and policies
• safety and security of business and cash

Qualifications/Experience/Skills:

• Ready to roll up your sleeve with a can do attitude
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and staying calm under pressure
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• LCQ required and manager certificates highly sort after
