Front of house staff – Chinese Takeaway

Location: Alexandra, Central Otago, New Zealand
Pay: $23.95 - $27 depending on experience. For those without relevant experience, the rate is negotiable and will be discussed based on performance during the trial shift.
Contract: Fixed-term, 3 months
Start date: 23 November 2026
Working hours: 4:30 pm – 8:00 pm, Monday to Sunday

We are a small, family-owned Chinese takeaway business looking for a friendly and reliable person to join our team!

We are a close-knit team of two and pride ourselves on creating a welcoming, supportive and enjoyable working environment. We are super friendly and happy to help someone to develop their skills.

We welcome both local applicants (part-time and full-time available) and working holiday travellers!

About the Role

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Greeting customers and taking takeaway orders at the counter.
• Answering phone calls and taking telephone and online orders.
• Handling money and processing customer payments.
• Operating the fryer and preparing food following customer orders.
• Packing and wrapping takeaway food once prepared.
• Keeping the front counter and customer service area clean and tidy.
• Checking and replenishing essential items at the front counter to ensure everything is well stocked.
• Following food hygiene and safety procedures.

• Full on-the-job training – previous experience is preferred but not essential.

We would love to hear from someone who is:

• Comfortable communicating with customers in English.
• Friendly and approachable, with a positive attitude.
• Punctual, reliable and honest.
• Willing to learn and take initiative.
• Able to work independently and as part of a small team.

Hospitality or takeaway experience would be an advantage, but it is not essential. Full training will be provided.

Working Arrangements

• Working hours: 4:30 pm – 8:00 pm, Monday to Sunday.
• Approximately 24.5 hours per week..
• Contract duration: 3 months (fixed-term).
• Preferred start date: 23 November 2026.
