Love being the person who gets everyone laughing, joining in and having a great time? Turn that energy into a job.

As an Axe-pert, you’ll bring people together through axe throwing, helping them move from first-time nerves to confidence, laughter and shared achievement. From a couple trying something new to a workplace battling for tournament bragging rights, you’ll be at the centre of the experience.

We’re looking for an outgoing, energetic person who gets real satisfaction from entertaining guests, building their confidence and giving them an experience they’ll talk about afterwards.

The role:

Your primary role is hosting axe throwing sessions. You’ll welcome guests, read the room, explain safety and throwing techniques, provide individual coaching and run lively games and tournaments.

You’ll bring the commentary, celebrate the surprise bullseyes and help the quieter guests feel comfortable joining in. Great hosting means knowing when to build the excitement and when someone needs a little patience and encouragement. Throughout every session, you’ll stay attentive to safety and confidently keep the group on track.

You’ll also host our Smashroom experiences: briefing guests, fitting protective equipment, supervising safe participation and preparing and resetting the room between sessions.

Behind the scenes:

The work starts before guests arrive and continues after they leave. Preparing the venue, resetting lanes, changing target boards, maintaining axes and equipment, clearing Smashroom materials and cleaning bathrooms and floors are all core parts of the job.

We’re a team where everyone chips in. You’ll need to work efficiently, spot what needs doing and help keep things moving between bookings. At closing time, that means completing a thorough pack-down and leaving the venue clean, organised and ready for the next day.

This is an active, hands-on role involving time on your feet, moving equipment and practical maintenance tasks, with training provided for the work you undertake.

You’ll thrive with us if you:

Enjoy speaking to groups and creating a fun, welcoming atmosphere.

Get a kick out of helping someone achieve something they didn’t think they could do.

Can adapt your humour, coaching and energy to different people.

Stay observant and take safety seriously, even when the room is buzzing.

Are reliable, proactive and willing to get stuck into cleaning and practical work.

Work well with others, take feedback on board and want to keep learning.

Are available for evening and weekend work.

You don’t need to be an experienced axe thrower. Bring personality, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, and we’ll teach you the throwing and hosting skills.

Room to grow:

Casual Axe-pert is the starting point for virtually all our team. We look to promote from within and recognise people who deliver excellent guest experiences, show initiative and take ownership of their work.

Our structured training pathway develops your hosting, practical and leadership skills, with opportunities to progress towards a supervisory role as you demonstrate your readiness and positions become available.

If you’re keen to broaden your experience, the hospitality side of the business offers another avenue to develop bar skills and potentially pick up additional shifts.

If your idea of a rewarding shift is a room full of laughter, a nervous guest finding their confidence and a team pulling together to make it happen, we’d love to hear from you.

Tell us a little about yourself, why this role appeals to you and any experience you have in hosting, hospitality, performance, coaching or customer service.
