Au Pair / Relief Milker

We’re looking for a caring, reliable and energetic person to join our farm team in a unique role combining childcare and dairy farm work.

You’ll be helping care for our three young children, aged 10 months to 4 years, while also getting involved with the farm as a relief milker.

Childcare – approx. 15 hours/week

You’ll be responsible for helping with the children’s day-to-day routines, including:

Playing and keeping them entertained
Preparing simple meals and snacks
Naps and general routines
Getting out and about with the kids
Providing a safe, caring and fun environment

There may also be opportunities for extra babysitting hours when other families on the farm need a hand.

Farm work – approx. 15 hours/week

Farm duties will include:

Relief milking
General dairy farm work
Helping out where needed around the farm

There is also the opportunity for extra paid farm hours when other staff are away on annual leave or need time off.

Pay & Accommodation

$350 per week allowance for the childcare component. (power and internet included)

$24 per hour for all farm work, paid on top of the weekly allowance. (around 15 hours a week) 

Single-person accommodation provided.

The position offers a good mix of childcare, farm work and free time, with the opportunity to pick up additional hours if wanted. 

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

Kind, patient and genuinely enjoys being around young children
Responsible and trustworthy
Happy living and working in a rural/farm environment
Comfortable around animals and willing to learn
Flexible and happy to lend a hand
Ideally has previous childcare and/or dairy farm experience, although the right attitude is most important

This would suit someone looking for a live-in farm experience, with a combination of childcare, dairy farming and the opportunity to become part of a friendly on-farm team.
