Whether you're a couple, travelling friends, or two individuals looking for valuable dairy experience, this is an opportunity to live and work together while learning from an experienced farming team.
About the Roles
You'll be based on two side-by-side dairy farms at Mabel Bush, each milking around 730 cows on modern System 4 operations. While you'll work on separate farms, you'll share furnished accommodation, use of a vehicle, work similar rosters and enjoy the same days off.
This is a fixed-term placement running from 1 August until 30 September, supporting one of the busiest and most rewarding times of the dairy season.
What's Included
- Fully furnished shared accommodation
- Fortnightly pay via easy-to-use timesheet app
- Work alongside experienced dairy farmers
- Great opportunity to gain New Zealand spring calving experience
- Explore Southland, Fiordland and the Catlins on your days off
What You'll Be Doing
Depending on your assigned role, duties may include:
- Milking and animal husbandry
- Assisting with spring calving
- Calf rearing and post-natal care
- Feeding stock and managing calving areas
- Cleaning the dairy shed and general farm maintenance
- Supporting the wider farm team with daily operations
Hours:
- Dairy Assistant: 40-55 hours per week
- Calf Rearer: Approximately 30 hours per week
What We're Looking For
- Previous dairy farming experience
- Experience with milking and spring calving
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Full driver's licence preferred
- Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test if required
About the Farm
You'll be joining a welcoming and experienced team across two well-run dairy units with excellent facilities, including large calving pads and herd homes. The farm owners have a great reputation for supporting staff and have previously hosted international workers and agricultural students from around the world.
Located just outside Invercargill, you'll have easy access to some of New Zealand's most spectacular destinations including Fiordland National Park, The Catlins, Bluff and Stewart Island.
If you're looking for an unforgettable spring on a New Zealand dairy farm, apply today and make the most of this unique opportunity.
ALL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO WORK IN NEW ZEALAND
