Want to work in a fun, supportive environment with a team that genuinely enjoys what they do? This could be your next adventure.

Who is Wilderness?

Wilderness is a New Zealand–owned family business that’s been at the forefront of tourism for over 20 years. We rent premium motorhomes to both locals and international visitors, and we’re also the exclusive New Zealand distributor for some of Germany’s top motorhome brands.

We’re here to help our customers create unforgettable journeys across Aotearoa in beautifully crafted European motorhomes. But it’s not just about the vehicles—it’s about the experience we deliver, which our glowing reviews speak volumes about.

With tourism in full swing and strong demand for our products and services, now’s a great time to join the Wilderness team.

What will you do?

  • Fit-Out & Equipment Installation: Install, fit out, and test equipment (including 12V components and electrical accessories) to manufacturer standards so all vehicles are safe, functional, and ready for our guests.
  • Quality & Precision: Inspect completed work to ensure flawless operation, high quality, and full compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborative Operations: Work closely with the Workshop Leader and internal teams to execute timely repairs, share skills, and support overall business goals.
  • Maintain Digital & Site Precision: Log all completed fit-outs and work accurately into our fleet management system, and keep your workstation clean, tidy, and safe.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Help identify process enhancements, follow all operational guidelines, and champion sustainable workplace practices.
  • Uphold Safety: Proactively identify hazards and adhere strictly to company Health & Safety policies to keep yourself and your teammates safe.

What we need from you:

  • Practical Trade & Tool Skills: Confident using hand tools, battery-powered tools, and heavy machinery (e.g., bench grinders, drop saws) safely and efficiently.
  • Technical Aptitude: Previous trade industry experience with mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems is highly advantageous (a relevant qualification is a plus!).
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Strong problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail and quality execution.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across diverse teams.
  • The Essentials & Road-Ready: A full, clean driver’s licence, confidence driving large motorhomes, and the legal entitlement to work in NZ.
  • Tuesday to Saturday Availability: Ability to work a Tuesday – Saturday roster.
