Looking for a lifestyle change? Join a progressive  farm as a Milker and Calf Rearer team. Perfect for a couple wanting to live and work together in one of New Zealand's most scenic regions.


This is a fantastic opportunity for a Milker and Calf Rearer to join a progressive dairy farming operation. These positions would ideally suit a couple or two friends looking to work and live together while experiencing one of New Zealand's most unique and beautiful regions.

The team completes much of its own tractor work throughout the season, providing additional variety and development opportunities for those with machinery experience.


Details:
 

  • Start Date: Mid July
  • Position 1: Milker
  • Position 2: Calf Rearer
  • Pay Rate: $26-$27 per hour depending on experience
  • Accommodation available

Milker Responsibilities:
 

  • Daily milking operations in a 54-bail rotary shed
  • Animal health and welfare monitoring
  • General farm duties and stock movement
  • Plant wash and shed hygiene
  • Tractor work and feeding out (experience beneficial)
  • Supporting pasture and irrigation management

Calf Rearer Responsibilities:
 

  • Feeding and caring for calves
  • Monitoring calf health and wellbeing
  • Maintaining calf sheds and feeding equipment
  • Recording treatments and calf performance
  • Supporting animal welfare and hygiene standards
  • Working closely with the farm team during calving

Requirements:
 

  • Previous dairy milking experience essential
  • Good stock sense and animal handling skills
  • Tractor experience highly advantageous
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Good English communication skills
  • Full driver's licence preferred
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand (AEWV not available)
