Civil Labourer | Drainage & Infrastructure | Queenstown
Tradestaff Queenstown is seeking hardworking and reliable Civil Labourers to join a leading civil construction contractor working on major infrastructure projects throughout the Otago region.

About the Role

You’ll be working alongside experienced drainage and civil construction crews, assisting with the installation of essential infrastructure including water, wastewater, and stormwater networks.
This is a hands-on outdoor role that offers variety, ongoing work, and the opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assisting with the installation of stormwater, wastewater, and water supply pipelines
  • Supporting excavation, trenching, shoring, and pipe-laying operations
  • Backfilling, compaction, and site reinstatement work
  • Operating hand and power tools
  • Assisting machinery and plant operators on site
  • Spotting for machine operators and maintaining safe work zones
  • General labouring duties across active civil construction sites
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment


What We’re Looking For

  • Previous civil construction or drainage experience preferred
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Ability to work safely around machinery and excavations
  • Good level of physical fitness
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Strong work ethic and reliable attendance
  • Positive attitude and team-focused approach
  • Good communication skills
  • Full Class 1 Driver Licence
  • WTR endorsements advantageous but not essential

To Be Successful You’ll Need

  • Full NZ Class 1 Driver Licence
  • Reliable transport to and from work
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand
