Permanent Senior Foh/duty Manager

We are Sisu Eatery and Bar on the Picton waterfront with stunning views of the Sounds. With only 23 seats inside, we run a laid-back personalized concept with seasonal small sharing plates, honest and attentive service and over 30 wines by the glass. We have an opportunity for a long term Senior Front of House Manager to join our small team!

About the role: Full-time permanent position (30 hours guaranteed) with growth opportunities. If you don’t have a Duty Manager's licence yet we can help you to obtain one. You’ll be a key person of our small tight-knit team so it is important that you’ll fit in with existing team members. You’ll step in to lead with the other Duty Managers as we all work together to create a great experience for the guests. This role includes all aspects of FOH work from table service, cash handling and stock management to cleaning, communicating with the kitchen and training seasonal team members etc. As well as adhering to all health and safety and food safety standards and liquor laws. If you have a passion for wine, a great attitude and the ability to learn quickly, we want to hear from you! Managing experience would be ideal, but we can upskill the right candidate.

We are open for lunch and dinner 5 days a week (moving back up to 6 days in the summer season) so availability to work evenings and weekends is essential and occasionally working public holidays. Picton is a seasonal destination so hours will fluctuate, more hours in the summer.

What we need from you:

·   Experience in quality restaurant hospitality, at least 1 to 3 years.

·   Keen interest in wine and willingness to learn. Wine knowledge is a bonus.

·   Outgoing personality. We take plenty of time to chat with customers and make them feel comfortable.

·   Be proactive and have a can-do attitude. You’ll need to be able to prioritise between tasks and think quickly on your feet. Consistency and attention to detail are part of our core values!

·   Be a respectful, polite team member.

·   You must have excellent conversational English language skills.

·   You need to be physically fit enough to lift wine boxes and stand for long periods of time.

·   You'll need to be able to follow instructions and be happy to comply with our house rules and procedures.

·   You’ll need to have a current right to work in New Zealand. (Working holiday visa is enough to start with)

 

What we offer:

·   $25 (training wage) 27-32 /h depending on your experience.

·   Permanent full-time contract: guaranteed 30 hours a week (More hours can be available).

·   Rostered shifts over 5 working days a week.

·   Full training will be provided to ensure you can still have fun while working in a hospitality job.

·   Assistance getting your Duty managers licence if you don't have one yet.

·   Other career development & wine training.
