Dishy/ Food Runner

We are Sisu Eatery and Bar at the Picton waterfront and we are looking for a member to join our team! We have a casual modern concept with less than 30 seats inside (+outdoor seating). We do sharing plates with seasonal focus; and small producer wines, craft beer and gins. We take pride in our attentive table service and in creating great experience  to our customers.

About the role: We are looking for someone ready to jump in and start supporting the team straight away. Minimum 3 months of commitment, but there is work available for the whole summer. Experience in restaurant hospitality would be ideal but great attitude and willingness to learn gets you a long way. This roles includes mostly doing dishes and other back ground work (ea. polishing cutlery) and running food to the customers and telling them about the dishes. Work on weekends and evenings. This role can grow to be more front of focused if you have interest in developing your skills.  We focus on wine and beer; no coffee so no barista skills needed.

What we need from you:

Out going personality. You need to be comfortable engaging with customers.

basic kitchen skills would be ideal and understanding of allergies and food safety rules. 

Be quick on your feet and have consistency and attention to detail.

Can do attitude and proactive approach to work. 

Be a great team member! Be respectful and polite towards others. 

You'll need to able to follow instructions and be happy to comply with our house rules and procedures.

You'll need to be willing to do dishes, polish glasses and cleaning.

You'll need to be fit enough to lift, do dishes and stay on your feet long periods at a time.

You must be fluent in conversational English!

You’ll need to have the right to work in New Zealand

What we offer

$25/h starting rate / more depending on skill set

Rostered shifts over 5 working days a week

Min. 30 hours per week 

Flexibility to schedule your hours around a woofing job in one of the hostels in town

Full training
