Hostel Allrounder Housekeeping

We are a small hostel located in central Queenstown looking to add a new Hostel All-Rounder to our team for summer. This role is primarily housekeeping-based, with reception training provided to assist at reception when needed. In essence, it is a ‘Housekeeping Supervisor’ role that occasionally helps at reception when needed.

We are looking to fill the position quite soon, from mid-October, with a minimum of at least 3 months required, but more is preferable. This is because the role will require significant training and therefore, we would rather not have to continually replace the position. We will give preference to those who can stay for the whole summer season (October - May).

Role Details:

• 5 days a week (will include one day over the weekend)
• 9:00am – 5:30pm (30-minute unpaid break).
• 40 hours per week.
• Best suited to someone living offsite, but accommodation in-house can be provided if needed.

About The Role:

This is a hands-on, physical job involving cleaning, stock control and maintaining hostel standards. You will be responsible for managing the daily housekeeping team, ensuring cleans are completed to the highest standard and providing feedback to staff when needed. You will complete room inspections prior to check-in and make sure everything is ready for arriving guests. Reception training will also be provided so that you can assist with guests at reception as well as helping manage incoming bookings and responding to emails. 

Role Requirements:

• Previous housekeeping experience is essential.
• A strong standard of verbal and written English is essential.
• Availability to work across a 7-day roster.
• Physically fit and comfortable with cleaning tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work within timeframes.
• Confidence to work independently and manage multiple tasks at once.
• Valid visa to work in NZ + IRD number.
• Availability for at least 3 months.
