If so, Matheson Cafe has an exciting opportunity for you! We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Cafe Shift Supervisor to join our team and help create an exceptional experience for our valued customers.

Position: Cafe Shift Supervisor – Fulltime – Permanent 

Location: Matheson Cafe, 1 Lake Matheson Rd, Fox Glacier.

Responsibilities: As a Cafe Shift Supervisor at Matheson Cafe, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of the cafe during your shift. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

1. Customer Service Excellence: Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service to every patron, ensuring they have an enjoyable and memorable experience at Matheson Cafe.
2. Team Leadership: Supervise and motivate a team of baristas and cafe staff, guiding them to deliver high-quality service and maintain a positive and efficient work environment. Collaborate and liaise with the kitchen to ensure efficiency.
3. Shift Management: Manage the daily operations of the cafe, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and ensuring the cafe is adequately stocked with fresh ingredients and supplies. Ensure staff are performing to Matheson café standards and working in time-efficient ways,
4. Quality Control: Ensure that all food and beverage items meet our high standards of quality and presentation, always adhering to health and safety regulations.
5. Training and Development: Assist in training new team members, providing coaching and support to help them excel in their roles.
6. Problem Solving: Address customer concerns and resolve any operational issues that may arise during your shift promptly and professionally.
7. Upkeep and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized cafe environment, upholding our commitment to hygiene and aesthetics.
8. Bookings: Receive and confirm bookings from inbound tour operators and ensure their requirements are satisfied. 
9. Sale of Liquor: Ensure all requirements of the sale of Liquor Act are being adhered to. Train new staff on the requirements of the act.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a supervisory role within the food and beverage industry is highly desirable.
• A passion for coffee and a strong knowledge of coffee preparation techniques is advantageous.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
• Ability to handle busy periods and remain calm under pressure.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to inspire and motivate a team.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• This is a full-time position.
• A current New Zealand work visa is required.
