Farm Assistant

We require a farm assistant for a 10 month commitment end of July-May. Ideally the applicant will have 1-2 full seasons experience, or have grown up in a farm environment.  

Requirements for This Role

Core duties include:
- Milking cows
- Plant and vat washes
- Identifying and treating sick cows
- Bringing herds for milking
- Break fencing as per grazing plan
- Springer checks
- Basic shed maintenance of ACR's and teat spray
- Shifting of rotorainer irrigation, including basic maintenance and high attention to detail

To be considered for this role you need to be eligible to work in New Zealand. Must possess a valid drivers license and be able to pass a drug test.

If you are wanting more of a permanent base to earn and then travel NZ on days off this might be a good option for you. 

The farm will peak milk approx. 785 cows through a 44 bail rotary shed on 218 effective ha. The shed is well set up with automatic drafting, ACR’s, auto teat spray and in-shed feeding of grain. We feed fodderbeet standing in the shoulders of the season. There is a run off 5km down the road where we winter the cows and run some young stock over summer.

We live in a great location - 20mins to Rollestion, 30mins to Hornby, 30mins to Ashburton, 12mins to Rakaia, 10mins to Dunsandel.
