Calf Rearer

We are looking for an experienced full time calf rearer from mid-July-mid-Sept 2024.

We calve down 800 cows, rearing approx 200-250 replacements. The remainder of calves, being sold at 4 days old to either the beef or bobby market. We have a very compact calving over the first 3 weeks so this is quite a busy time therefore previous experience is required.

We pick calves up multiple times throughout the day, because we believe it is easier to train the calves and it helps to get high quality gold colostrum into the calf as fast as possible.

We like to work harder not smarter, so we have a number of different tools for the job. For example, milk transfer cube, designated calf vat, 2 x tow behind calf feeders, meal sleds, flow meter for measuring milk quantity, milk warming facilities etc.

Ideally the candidate will have experience rearing calves, a good attitude, and the ability to work efficiently unsupervised. There would be ongoing relief milking if the candidate is local to our area.

Must live in NZ and have the right to work in NZ.
Must have experience.
