The Woodstock Hotel is a classic Kiwi country pub sitting just outside Hokitika, surrounded by rainforest, rivers, and West Coast wilderness. We're a social, down-to-earth spot with regular live music, a steady stream of international travellers, and a proper community feel. If you like good yarns, live tunes, and meeting people from all over the world, you'll feel right at home here.

We also offer overnight parking in our car park for campervans, so it's a handy base if you're travelling with your own wheels.

The Role

We're offering a paid hospitality position — 4 hours a day, 5 days a week (20 hours/week) at $24 per hour, with the option of additional paid hours when business demands it.

On-site accommodation is available at $200 per week — a great option if you want to live where you work and skip the hassle of finding a place in town. You'll just need to sort your own meals (we're happy to point you to the local shops and supermarkets).

This leaves plenty of time to explore the Coast, hike, fish, or just enjoy the laid-back West Coast lifestyle.

What You'll Be Doing

This is a genuine all-rounder role, so no two days are exactly the same:

• Kitchen — washing dishes, keeping the kitchen clean and organised, and if you've got chef experience, stepping in to back up the chef during service. If you can handle basic food prep or knock out simple meals, even better.
• Front of house — waitressing, table service, taking orders, and keeping the dining area welcoming and tidy.
• Bar service — pouring beers, serving customers, and keeping the bar running smoothly.
• General upkeep — cleaning hotel rooms and keeping the restaurant and bar areas looking sharp.
• Gardening (bonus, not essential) — if you enjoy a bit of gardening or have some landscaping skills as a hobby, we'd love a hand keeping the grounds looking good. But this is a nice-to-have, not a must-have.

Who We're Looking For

• Someone with solid hospitality experience — whether that's behind a bar, waiting tables, or working in a kitchen. We want people who know the ropes and can hit the ground running.
• Excellent English is essential — you'll be chatting with guests from all over the world every single day, so confident, friendly communication is a must.
• A positive, can-do attitude — someone flexible, sociable, and happy to muck in wherever needed.
• Singles or couples welcome — we're happy to host a couple working together.
• A minimum commitment of 12 weeks, but ideally we're looking for someone who can stay through to around April 2027. That said, life happens — if you need to move on sooner, just be upfront and we'll work it out.
