Nissan El Grand Self Contained

located in Wellington and listed under Cars & Campervans

In Wellington from 17/07 to 20/07. If you wanna see it there, be quick!

Around Motueka and Nelson from 21/07 till sold.

NEWER than most of typical self contained campervans on sale: less than 250 000 k (24x xxx), 1999.
BIGGER than every Estima (and other) you can find.

- Petrol, feed with 95 (will last longer!). Very economic: up to 570 k’s done before being in the red zone.
- WOF: 29/11/2017.
- Rego: 10/08/2017. (Just an amount to pay at the kiwi post to renew it).
- Efficient automatic gearbox. Much easier and softer on the many winding roads of NZ.
- Very comfy seats and interior. You’ll spend hours driving and being in it. What’s better to drive a campervan feeling like in a car? The passenger seat can rotate 180°, so it opens the living space and make a comfortable chair!
- You’ve got valuables to keep? No worries! It looks like a regular family car from outside, thieves won’t even look at it. What’s more, smoked glazes prevent from seeing what’s inside (meanwhile you may see everything outside!). Not enough? There is small secret compartment, big enough to hide laptops.
- Huge bed (we are 183 & 178 tall), no issue! Enjoy it with 2 pillows, 2 bolsters, 1 blanket and 2 plaids.

Important! We are only the second backpacker owners. The first one bought the car to the kiwi who transformed it into a van. What’s more, it received a new youth during the last 2 years, with bills as proof:

- 4 new tires.
- New break pads.
- New radiator and thermostat.
- New handbrake cable.
- New TPS (throttle position sensor).
- Cambelt done at 210 000 km. No worries for 2, may be 3 others NZ trips.

No oil or any other liquid licking, no rust.

Some nice advantages during this second half of winter:

- The floor is insulated
- The heating is powerful! A cold night? Just drive 3 minutes in the morning and you feel like in a sauna if you want to.
- No starting issue. It starts at first time anytime!

HUGE second battery:

- Plenty of power to charge your mobiles, cameras, laptops and to watch movies when the weather is bad, even if you don’t drive for some days in a row.
- The led lights behind and the one above the kitchen work on it, so they won’t let you down.

Self contained till 2021: the value of this van will rise in the next months and years as the rules to make your van self contained have become stronger.

- 25L container for clear water.
- 25L container for grey water.
- Easy refill and emptying.
- 1 electric water pump, powered by the second battery.
- 1 small sink in the kitchen corner.
- 1 portable toilet, never used.

In the kitchen corner:

- 2 burners alimented by a 2,4L gas bottle.
- 3 big plates, 3 small plates, 4 bowls, 4 glasses, 2 cups, etc.
- 1 saucepan, 1 frying pan, 1 colander.
- Full cutlery: knives, forks, tea and table spoons, can opener, plastic spoon, kitchen knife, etc.
- 1 coffee plunger.
- 2 wood boards.
- A lot of spices, teabags, … (probably some more leftovers!)
- 1 big box for food, several smaller ones for teas, coffee, sugar, muesli, cutlery, and any other stuff.

3 ways (so far!) to configure the living space:

- Small table, typical campervan configuration.
- Big table with the passenger seat looking backward, using the camping table.
- No table! Keep the bed and enjoy the comfy mattress. Use the boxes and trays to make personal tables. (This is our favourite)

And :

- Plenty of space below the bed to store clothes, boot, bags.
- 2 roof windows: gaze at the stars of NZ nights guys! one mosquito net included for the big one. Enjoy fresh air without any sandflies.)
- 1 camping table and 2 chairs.
- 1 extra camping gaz burner with some extra gas bottles. Useful when the weather is terrible. May be used with caution inside: very stable. Perfect for the boiling water in the morning when you’re a bit lazy to prepare the coffee outside.
- 1 spare wheel.
- 1 small (ok, very small!) fridge but useful for a piece of cheese, meat or a couple of fresh beers.
- Dark curtains.
- 3 boxes fitting above the kitchen and may be used as small “tables” on the bed.
- 1 additional huge box stored on the driver seat and a big bag for pillows, blanket, jacket, etc.
- 2 basins.
-1 spare wheel.
- 1 tarpaulin.
