Team Player Dairy Farm 500 Cows

We’re looking for a new team member who is passionate about working with cows. We milk 500 cows on 170 ha just outside of Lumsden. Infrastructure includes 36 a-side herringbone, ACR’s, meal feeding system and a wintering barn. Lumsden is situated 75 minutes from Queenstown, 1 hour from Te Anau and 40 minutes from Gore. 

We’re looking for a farm assistant with a positive attitude towards learning. The farm assistant job entails all aspects of farming including but not limited to; milking, feeding, ensuring animal health needs are met, driving tractors, making silage and maintenance of equipment. Currently, the tasks and responsibilities are divided to the skill set of staff.

We’re looking for someone who will show great stockman ship, who can work independently as well as part of a team and has a good work ethic. 

Our farm is well maintained and our stock is well looked after. One of our key goals this season is to grow as much grass as we can and utilise all of it.

You are expected to work around 35 to 60 hours/week. Roster is negotiable, but we normally work with a 5-2 roster (where you work 5 days and are off 2 days). 

Shared, fully furnished accommodation is available. Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa, a driver’s licence and a vehicle. We're looking for someone who can start in the first week of August and is available until the end of October (you can stay longer is you like). We offer great support and you are welcome to talk to our current and previous staff to get a good picture of us and the workplace.
