Marlborough’s largest tourism operator, Marlborough Tour Company, boast a family of businesses including Furneaux Lodge, Punga Cove Resort, Wilderness Guides, Cougar Line Water Taxi, Pelorus Mail Boat, Marlborough Sounds Adventure Company and Marlborough Tour Company touring.

We have a chef positions based at Punga Cove Resort and Furneaux Lodge for the upcoming summer season.  

At Marlborough Tour Company biggest asset are our people, who are all committed to giving an exceptional guest experience in a beautiful part of the world. A direct boat ride out from Picton and located right on the Queen Charlotte Track, we're a popular stop for walkers, mountain bikers and local boaties. Accessible mostly by boat, we pride ourselves on being a unique offering nestled on the Queen Charlotte Track.

Due to our remote location, applicants must live onsite.

About the Role - Mo tēnei tūrangi mahi

Start dates:

Punga Cove: Mid/End August 2026

Furneaux Lodge: Mid/End October 2026

Our fixed term positions run until closure of lodges, usually around end of April/May each year. Some senior positions are available as full-time contracts. 

We are looking for an energetic Head Chef for Furneaux Lodge, and Sous Chef and Chef De Partie for both lodges.  We pride ourselves on our food and beverage offerings, using local suppliers and seasonal ingredients where we can, showcasing what the region has to offer. 

About You - Ko ngā wheako ōu

• Works well in a team and brings a positive attitude
• Communicates confidently in English in a busy kitchen environment
• Shows respect, reliability and strong work ethic
• Is adaptable and happy to work across both lodge locations when needed
• Has at least 2 years’ experience in the role you’re applying for
• Already has the right to live and work in New Zealand (no sponsorship available)

Couples are most welcome to apply - if your partner has hospitality experience then we would love to hear from them also.  Due to room configuration, the accommodation is not suitable for families.
