Chef Roles At Luxury Lodge

CHEF ROLES Poronui is looking for experienced, forward-thinking Chefs who are passionate about culinary arts and hospitality to join our team. 

We know great hospitality comes from strong teamwork and a dedication to excellence. 

Poronui is a luxury sporting lodge, world-renowned for its superb fly fishing and outdoor experiences, located 40 minutes from Taupo on a 16,000-acre high country farm. Our vision is to provide all our guests with an authentic 5-star experience. We aim for the highest standards in all aspects of our guests stay.

The successful candidates will work with the head chef to grow our food repertoire and create a unique experience for our guests. 

In this position, you will be responsible for the kitchens and preparing meals in our 4 unique locations each with its own style of dining - from rustic-luxe camping to our underground wine cellar.

Our chefs focus on all aspects of food at Poronui from breakfast to dinner including lunches, canapes, home baking, and afternoon teas.  We expect the same level of passion for each meal produced.


· You will work to a roster with rostered days off.

· On-site staff accommodation available, with laundry & Wi-Fi 

· Travel allowance from Taupo if residing away from the property.

Attributes and qualities you will bring

· A passion for great food and culinary trends

· An interest in home-style baking

· Personable and friendly – we operate our open kitchens with guests engaging at the pass, engaging with our chefs

· Flexible and fast to pick up new techniques and styles with our changing menus through the seasons

· Natural leadership skills and a team player; you thrive in a busy and high-pressure environment while working with a sense of urgency and a good sense of humour!

· Experienced, with a good work history. Previous luxury lodge experience would be an advantage

· A willingness to spend Christmas, New Year and Public holidays with the team working during the busy period

· You’ll be approved to work in New Zealand now and have a Full Drivers licence and transport to and from work

Permanent part-time and casual opportunities exist with our team.  Shifts are available immediately and we are looking forward to a busy season ahead.

Candidates for these roles require a current full driving licence, vehicle, New Zealand residency or a current work permit.
