New Zealand Travel Tips & Questions

Do I need to take a guide book?

There are several excellent guide books to choose from but save yourself some weight and rucksack space and leave them at home. The excellent system of tourist information centres known as

i-SITES makes them completely redundant. I-SITES are found everywhere, even in the tiniest of towns and are goldmines of all the information you could possibly need including tourist attractions, maps, transport and accommodation options.

Each i-SITE has a local section with racks and shelves full to the brim of brochures and publications and they will also have the same for other areas around New Zealand helping you to plan ahead.

Very occasionally there will be a small charge of about 50 NZ cents for specific route walking maps but otherwise all publications and maps are completely free.

They will also book trips, tours and ferries for you.
