Toyota Estima T Self Contained Campervan $9600
Sadly, we’ll have to part ways with our 2001 Toyota Estima T, affectionately nicknamed “Barney” by us. I’m the first New Zealand owner of this imported car, and throughout our 1-year trip around New Zealand, it has proven itself more than capable and reliable.
The Campervan Setup:
The car has been completely furnished with a big bed that can comfortably fit 2 adults and can be converted into an indoor seating area with a table.
Underneath the bed, you’ll find multiple compartments for luggage, gear, and anything else you might need. The outdoor kitchen is kept separately in the trunk and includes a table, hand-pumped sink, a gas cooker and enough space for groceries and cooking utensils.
Of course, it also meets all the self-contained requirements, with a 25L fresh water tank, a 25L waste water tank, and an unused.
Equipment:
mattress, pillow, blanket
Storage space underneath the bed
Bed can be converted into seating area and table
Curteains + tinted windows

Gas cooker + cooking gear (cutlery, pan, pot, cups, plates and food containers)
2 camping chairs and camping table

The Car
The 2.4-litre petrol engine paired with an automatic transmission makes it easy to drive around town or on longer trips. The Estima has a reputation for reliability, and Barney has certainly lived up to it. It’s in good working order and ready for its next owner.
It’s a straightforward vehicle that does what it needs to do without fuss. If you’re after something with plenty of space that won’t let you down, this could be a good fit.
Features:
- 2.4-litre petrol engine with automatic transmission - air conditioning - Remote central lock - Easy to drive and manoeuvre - In good working order - New front tyres - New battery - Fresh Warrant of Fitness - Rego until February - Self-contained certificate
Before buying a campervan or car we recommend that you get the vehicle checked by an independent mechanic or have an inspection by the AA undertaken to ensure there are no major faults or problems. If you are renting or taking advantage of a buyback scheme make sure you have a valid contract in place.
