After almost a year of travelling around New Zealand and many conversations with other backpackers, we know exactly what you really appreciate when living in a van.
The biggest advantage is the permanent double bed, which does not need to be folded out and packed away every day. In the evening you can simply lie down, and in the morning you can head off straight away. Even when the weather outside is not great, there is enough space inside for comfortable sitting, cooking and eating.
Thanks to the well-thought-out conversion, the van offers an above-standard amount of storage space, so everything has its place and the interior stays organised.
Another big advantage is the large fridge with a large freezer, which means you do not need to go shopping all the time. The outdoor slide-out kitchen is also a big plus, and thanks to the spacious awning, you can comfortably sit outside not only on sunny days but also when it rains.
The van has been very well looked after the whole time. Regular servicing, complete documentation and careful maintenance have always been a priority for us.
This Toyota Hiace is an honest and reliable older vehicle, with a good engine and great equipment. It does have some light cosmetic imperfections from the previous owner β dented rear doors, a small dent at the front and some light rust here and there β but otherwise the van looks beautiful and matches its age.
The van is ready to drive away and live in straight away. Just take the keys and start exploring New Zealand.
Before buying a campervan or car we recommend that you get the vehicle checked by an independent mechanic or have an inspection by the AA undertaken to ensure there are no major faults or problems. If you are renting or taking advantage of a buyback scheme make sure you have a valid contract in place.
