Farm Assistant For A Minimum Of 3 M

We require someone who likes animals to help milk our 585 quiet/friendly jersey cows. 
No experience is necessary but we do require someone willing to learn quickly with very good English, who is calm and likes animals.    

The health, safety and wellbeing of the cows, calves and people(you, our other employee and us) is very important so we need someone who is honest, reliable and has no problem telling us if they don't understand something or something is wrong.    

You must be able to commit for at least 3 months(our last backpackers stayed just over 6 months each)
 
You will start work between 6.15 and 8am(calving starts mid July so we dont start early until we need to). We have 35-55 work hours per week available.... your hours will be spread over 6 days per week(some days will be longer than others depending on what needs doing, the weather etc)…. We always make sure our staff have breaks during the day(at the houses provided) and some weeks you will be able to take an extra day or half day off if needed when it suits.  

You will learn how to milk cows, feed calves, set up fences, ride a 2 wheel motorbike and other stuff like spraying weeds(theres also some clearing to be done in our overgrown garden if you want). 

Accommodation will be a nice furnished house less than 400m from the cowshed and wifi and power will be included in rent. The job is for 1 person. Wages are paid weekly, we require you to fill out an accurate time sheet daily.    

Our farm is only 5 mins from Waitomo Caves, 10mins from Te Kuiti and 15mins from Otorohanga, its approximately 1 hour from Hamilton. 
We are a couple with a baby and 3 year who are on the farm with us every day so you must be okay with being asked what you are doing by a 3 year old.
We have had paid backpackers for 3.5 years and hosted wwoofers for years before that so are used to having people from other countries around.  

You will need to have a car to get to the supermarket and explore on your days off.
