Au Pair Needed – Spring in Southland (20 minutes from Winton)
Hello. We’re a busy rural family in Winton, Southland, looking for someone kind, who enjoys children, feels comfortable in a rural setting, and is happy being part of a hardworking, down-to-earth family.
We have a small block, where we run an excavation business and rear beef calves. Our outdoorsy, busy three little boys (4, 2½, and 6 months) would love someone to play and explore with while we’re rearing the calves in spring. They do attend kindy.
You’ll be helping mostly with the boys’ day-to-day care. Playing, keeping them busy and safe, helping with simple meals, and light housework to keep things ticking along. The older boys love being out at the calf shed with us (just 200m from the house), and we’d love someone who is happy to bring them over and spend time nearby while we work. No calf work is required unless you’re keen for extra paid work. We’ve got two very lively dogs, chickens for eggs, and a veggie garden you’re welcome to enjoy with the kids.
You’ll have your own bedroom in the house. There is also a space near the calf shed where you can sit by the fire, read, relax, or enjoy some quiet time away from us.
This is a paid role, with accommodation and meals included as part of the live-in arrangement. We’re also happy to support time off where possible so you can explore i.e Te Anau, Queenstown, The Catlins, Stewart Island. Understanding English is a must for safety reasons for both yourself and our children. Confidenc driving on the left hand side of the road, with a full licence
Dates: someone available either 1 August – end of November or Mid-September – early November
Hours: August: approx. 30+ hrs/week. Mid-Sept – October: approx. 50+ hrs/week (our busiest time)
We do have Dutch heritage, and my husband can speak Dutch, so we would especially welcome applications from Dutch au pairs looking for a New Zealand rural experience.
We are looking for someone who will feel like part of our family. Someone kind, patient, fun, and trustworthy.
