Assistant Gelato Maker Summer Fix

Charlie's Gelato is an icon of the Matakana Coast experience.

Situated approx. 45 minutes north of Auckland CBD, we are in the heart of Matakana Coast, surrounded by stunning beaches & regional parks.

With a selection of 80+ flavours in our repertoire, Charlie's is an artisan Gelato producer, offering 40+ flavours for scooping daily. We have an onsite gift store, Flower Garden, BBQ Kitchen & other boutique retail elements.

In addition to this we are renowned for our Wood Fired Pizzas over the Summer, with both a local following & customers returning from further afield to relax in the Licenced garden with Gelato, Pizza & stunning sunny vibes.

We are looking for a focussed Assistant Gelato Maker to support production during our preparational Pre-Summer & focussed Holiday period. (start mid Nov 2026- finish end Feb 2027 - approx 14 week period)

The Role:

- FIrst 2-3 weeks are training, shadowing our long-standing Gelato Maker. Approx 20hrs a week. 

- From late November, 30 hrs+ a week, no late nights (nothing past 9pm) but the occasional early morning (8.30am), 5 days in 7.

- Includes primarily the production of Artisan Italian Style Gelato, to house recipes & presentation standards. Responsibilities include production, stock rotation, & some customer service.

- Ice cream production experience would be preferred, but a good working understanding of Commercial Kitchens in a must.

- Supporting the production & service team as required.

- Support in finding accomodation offered.

- Contract Completion bonus (to be discussed).
