Dairy Assistant Calf Rearing

Hello there

We are a small family run dairy farm (460) cows and we would like to employ one person to help us (can bring a partner but no paid work for them unless you share the hours)  Calf rearing from August to 1st October. The work will be part time 4 hours a day 20 hours a week approximately Monday to Friday. 

 
Our farm is situated 7 mins from Waimate in South Canterbury and 2hours 30 minutes from Christchurch and 2 hours 30 minutes to Dunedin. You will have lots of time to explore the countryside when you are not working in the weekends.

No previous experience needed just a good work ethic and patience is needed as we will teach you all you need to be part of a positive experience and team.  Interviewing will be required in person or over zoom. 

Based in Waimate you will work among the world’s most amazing scenery. 

Details:

• This position would suit a backpacker who is self sufficient with their own van to sleep in. There is a toliet and kitchen on site and a bathroom to use at the owners home.
• Or We can offer the option provide a warm double glazed cabin with a queen bed that would be positioned in nature and you will have access to kitchen and bathroom facilities and internet. This would be $200.00 per week rent inclusive of all bills but not food. 

Tasks

• Calf rearing on a Dairy farm
• Animal health including feeding calves
• Full training provided
• Milking cows if you want to learn in your spare time.

Requirements:

• You also must have good English
• Willingness to learn 
• Legal right to work in NZ (unable to support an AEWV)
• previous experience with stock is an advantage 

Remuneration $25 per hour plus 8% holiday pay
