Convertible living area which transforms from sofa to bed, with storage underneath. To the rear is the kitchen area with fold down worktop and storage baskets. We have fitted some high quality, lined curtains, custom made to run around the sleeping area. Inside the cupboard we have fitted a small lockable safe for valuables.
We bought the van in January 2017 from a fruit picking company in Auckland. It is therefore a first generation backpackers’ van and we completed the conversion from a commercial van to one you can comfortably live in ourselves. The van is powerful and with the 4WD you have some great traction on those gravel roads and any muddy campgrounds - it passed many a struggling campervan in the South Island!
After we bought the van in just two months ago, we had an independent vehicle check done (which we can show you) as well as a second inspection completed at Midas Onehunga, prior to the service and new tyres.
Buffy is a pleasure to drive and lovely to live in - we will miss her a lot! She’s not the prettiest van we saw, but we both got a good feeling about her and gave her a proper Princess Diaries makeover once we had the keys: new wooden panels, white paint, solar fairy lights and brand new bedding, cushions and throw. Buffy comes with EVERYTHING you might need for your adventure in New Zealand: we spent a great deal of money buying pretty and practical things, so the kitchen is fully kitted out with cutlery, crockery and utensils, camping gas cooker, table and two chairs, and we will also leave the all-important North & South road maps ($60), three USB chargers and a selection of CDs (mainly musicals!).
We opted for non-self-contained and found that to be the best decision, the requirements for self-containment are tightening up and the necessary toilet unit and waste water containers would just take up valuable room. Instead, we loved staying at a mixture of free camping sites, DOC and private sites, all of which have toilets anyway.
Feel free to check out Buffy’s own Instagram account [instagram.com/buffythecampsitestayer] for more photos. We’re even happy to pass on the Insta account if you want to take over!
Open to offers and viewings.
Before buying a campervan or car we recommend that you get the vehicle checked by an independent mechanic or have an inspection by the AA undertaken to ensure there are no major faults or problems. If you are renting or taking advantage of a buyback scheme make sure you have a valid contract in place. SCAM ALERT
Please be aware of scammers that have been operating on buy and sell websites such as ours. They claim to be working away but will want to buy and sell a vehicle remotely. DO NOT engage with these enquiries or transfer any money without meeting the buyer or seller in person.
