As an assistant manager you will be responsible for the day to day management of the hostel and an integral part of the team, assisting the Manager to ensure an efficient, smooth running, happy and profitable operation. 

TASKS : The assistant manager will represent the Management when they are not available. They will provide leadership and support to all members of the Front Desk and enforces the Hostels Standards of Excellence in all areas throughout all stages of the guest's stay. Determines a guest's reservation status and identifies how long the guest will stay, and from where/how they booked. Helps guests complete registration form and then assigns rooms, accommodating special requests whenever possible. Verifies the guest's method of payment and follows established credit-checking procedures. Places guest and room information Abode. Works closely with the housekeeping department, can do house keeping shifts too, and coordinates requests for maintenance and repair work or informs the manager if not urgent.

Must be sales-minded. Presents options and alternatives to guests and offers assistance in booking activities, buses and finding work. Knows the location and types of available rooms as well as the activities and services of the property. Runs new and current events e.g. Quiz nights, international dinners Increasing the hotels visibility through social media, events and promotions. Collect payments and maintain records Liaising with guests to provide tourist information, assists guests with job placements in the local community. Answering guest feedback. Replying to trip advisor reviews and email communications to assess customer satisfaction and create strategies to increase customer service performance. Coordinate with external parties including suppliers. Responsible for guest and staff security and adhering to correct lock up and opening procedures of building and grounds daily. As we are a small team some cleaning shifts may need to be covered while we are in our quite months.

Required Experience required but not limited to:- * Experience in hostels * Full knowledge of using Abode booking system * Full knowledge of using Microsoft Office * Marketing experience including promotions, event planning and increasing business visibly. * Experience using and setting up online reservation software and working with online sale platforms such as Booking.com, hostel world. *Exceptional leadership skills and attention to detail. *Staff training experience. *Flexibility to work nights and weekends *Must be well traveled and able to converse with other cultures. * First Aid certificate *Ability to manage and exceed customer service experience. * Self-motivation, initiative and great problem solving skills *Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels * Attention to detail and great cleaning skills 

Must be able to work Weekends/public holidays, rostered shifts. As we are a small team and COVID has hit our industry hard, over winter we all work as a team and cleaning is definately part of the job! Roll on summer... we will be smoking busy!
