Payment: From $24 based on experience Location: Mid Canterbury
Region: Christchurch & Canterbury Experience: No Experience Necessary

We are looking for a farm assistant or milk harvester initially to work from the start of Feb to the middle of April, and in our ideal world you would head off and do some travelling, and then come back for our busy season of Mid July to Dec/Jan as well! We may also have some casual work from May to July, and you'd be welcome to base yourself in our accommodation over this time. This role will be based at our Methven farm.

Finding someone who best completes our team is the most important thing, and we are happy to make the role fit around what’s important to you. Ideally you will already have some farm or milking experience, but we are also open to someone who is a quick learner and willing to give it their all.

If working together as a team to achieve high standards in all areas is what you’re about, you’ll enjoy our farm. We have clear reasons behind everything we do, and want to work with people who care about their contribution to the farm’s success. We also want to provide an environment where our team can get things done efficiently, and clock off to go and do what’s important to you in life.

We like to see our team grow themselves and their careers alongside ours, as well as achieve their off farm goals.

We are looking for:

- Great attitude, energetic outlook, and team player mentality

- Trustworthiness and pride in your work & workplace

- The desire to learn from yesterday and change for tomorrow

- Honest and clear communication

Job Description includes a range of the following dependent on experience:

- getting cows in, milking, and washing shed/plant/vat

- general animal health tasks

- general farm maintenance and irrigation

- feeding out and allocation of pasture

What we can provide for you:

- Fair working hours and flexible time off

- The ability to learn on farm and growth within the role. While experience is preferred due to the short nature of the role, it isn’t a must, as we are willing to teach someone who aligns with our values.

- An environment where you can be proud of what we are achieving as a team.

- A fully furnished single unit will be provided, with rent deducted from pay. Starlink internet is included as part of the rent.

We will pay an hourly rate, which will be from $24, with a higher rate paid where there is experience, and the hourly rate is reviewed as you master skills in the role.

- Roster is currently an 8/2, 8/3 roster, but we are flexible to other options to make sure this works for our whole team.

- The farm is 700 cows, with a rotary shed and mostly pivot irrigation.

If this opportunity is of interest to you, please apply with your cover letter and CV with relevant work related references. Applicants must be happy to fill in a pre employment application form, and be prepared to undergo a pre-employment drug test. If you are shortlisted, we will send you some further information about us, our team, and the farm, and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Applicants must be eligible to work in NZ or on a working holiday visa, as we are not immigration accredited employers. You will also need your own form of transport, as we are not close to public transport. Note we only have a vacancy for one person, however the accommodaiton could work for a couple, although be aware the living/kitchen/bedroom is all in one space.
