Gelato & Barista Counter Staff – Napier

Not a restaurant. Not a brunch cafe. Lick this! is a busy gelato and coffee shop in Napier: scoops, waffle cones, shakes and good coffee, served fast to a steady stream of summer customers.

We’re after people who’ve already worked in a cafe and can make good coffee under pressure. You’ll be on the counter from your first shift, so we need someone who can hit the ground running. This is not a training role.

What you’ll do

• Scoop and serve gelato quickly and accurately, to our portion specs
• Make espresso drinks to a consistent standard during rushes
• Keep the counter, cabinet and machine clean and stocked
• Open or close the shop, and follow checklists without being chased

What we need

• Recent cafe or hospo counter experience. Barista experience is strongly preferred.
• Reliable, punctual and self-directed. You do the job properly whether or not anyone’s watching.
• Calm with a queue out the door
• Available for weekday and weekend shifts, both mornings and afternoons/evenings
• Able to start ASAP, and ideally stay through to the end of the summer season (early February)
• Legally entitled to work in NZ. A working holiday visa is fine.

• $24–$26/hr depending on experience [+ 8% holiday pay if casual]
• Casual or fixed-term, 20–40 hours a week, negotiable

This is one role for one person. We can’t take joint or package applications, and shifts are rostered individually, so you won’t be working alongside a partner or friend.
