Kaikōura Bakery is looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Café All-Rounder to join our team for the busy summer season and beyond.

About the Role

Your main duties will include:

• Serving customers with a smile
• Operating the till and handling payments
• Decorating muffins, scones and other freshly baked products for display
• Replenishing and displaying bakery products
• Keeping the shop clean, tidy and well stocked
• Helping with general shop duties and supporting the team as needed

Working Hours and Training

Hours will generally be around 35 per week initially, with opportunities to work more than 45 hours per week from mid-December during our busy summer season.

All new staff start on the day shift, usually from 8 am or 9 am until 4:15 pm-4:30 pm. This allows you to learn our products, customer service procedures and daily shop duties.

Once you are confident serving customers independently, you may also have the opportunity to work early shifts starting at 6 am or 7 am, depending on your skills and our team's needs.

We have different shifts to suit the needs of our bakery. Staff who are best suited to day shifts can continue working with our serving team.

What We're Looking For

• Good spoken English and a friendly approach to customer service
• A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
• Someone who is reliable, punctual, organised and takes pride in their work
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
• Someone who learns quickly and can work independently once trained in their duties
• Availability to work weekends and public holidays as rostered

Previous retail, café or hospitality experience is an advantage, but not essential.

Barista experience is a bonus, but not essential. We have experienced coffee makers on our team who can provide support when needed.
