Dairy Farm Assistant

We are looking for a practical and reliable Dairy Farm Assistant to join our team in Ashburton. This is a varied, hands-on role on our 1500 cow dairy farm, covering milking, animal health, feed and pasture management, machinery operation and general farm maintenance. the farm has Halter Protrack and 80 bale rotary shed.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Milking and maintaining high standards of animal and shed hygiene
• Assisting with the day-to-day management of the herd, including animal health and calving
• Assisting with feed, pasture, weed and pest management
• Operating farm machinery and assisting with general repairs and maintenance
• Maintaining farm records and working to required animal welfare, environmental and health and safety standards
• Helping with other farm and livestock duties as required

We are looking for someone who:

• Has dairy farming experience or a strong interest in farming and livestock
• Is confident working with animals and operating farm machinery
• Is practical, physically fit and able to use initiative
• Is reliable, safety-conscious and works well as part of a team
• Is keen to learn and develop their farming skills
• Holds a current driver license
• Has the right to work in New Zealand

Previous dairy farming experience is an advantage, but skills, attitude, reliability and a genuine interest in farming are equally important.
