Dairy Assistant Glenavy

The Role
Looking for a dairy role where you can build your skills and get involved in the busy spring season? We're looking for a Dairy Farm Assistant to join a family-run farm in Glenavy, South Canterbury, milking 620 cows through a 40-aside herringbone shed.

This role includes standard dairy duties as well as helping with calves, and training will be provided. You don't need years of dairy experience, but you must have previous livestock experience and be comfortable working around stock.

The role includes:
 

• Assisting with milking
• Bringing cows in and moving stock
• Helping with calf feeding and calf care
• Monitoring animal health and welfare
• Shed and plant wash
• General farm duties
• Feeding out and seasonal work as required

What we need:
 

• Previous experience working with livestock is essential
• Some dairy/farming experience required
• Comfortable and confident around large animals
• Willingness to learn
• Reliable with a good work ethic
• Good English communication
• Legal right to work in New Zealand
