Waitstaff, Bartenders & Front of House Team
Marlowe is opening on High Street this September, and we’re looking for the people who will work across our dining room and bar.
We’re hiring:
Full-time, part-time and casual positions are available.
About Marlowe
Marlowe has been created by people who have spent their careers in hospitality and who will remain closely involved in its day-to-day operation. The people making the decisions will also be the people in the kitchen, on the floor, behind the bar and at the pass each day.
Hospitality has been considered from the very beginning: how guests are welcomed, how the restaurant moves through the day and how it feels to work here.
We want Marlowe to feel warm, familiar and confidently looked after. Polished, but never formal for the sake of it.
The Roles
Experienced Waiters
You’ll take ownership of a section while remaining aware of the wider dining room.
You’ll know the menu properly, understand the ingredients and confidently guide guests through the food and beverage offering. You’ll manage the pace of your tables, communicate closely with the kitchen and bar, and recognise when a guest needs your attention, and when they would rather be left to enjoy themselves.
We’re looking for waiters who can deliver detailed, knowledgeable service without making it feel rehearsed.
Bartenders
The bar sits at the centre of Marlowe and will play an important part in the restaurant throughout the day.
You’ll prepare cocktails and beverages with care and consistency, look after guests seated at the bar and work closely with the floor throughout service. You’ll learn the complete beverage program, with opportunities to develop your knowledge across cocktails, spirits, wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks.
We’re looking for bartenders who care as much about the person sitting in front of them as the drink they’re making.
Food Expeditors
The food expeditor will be the connection between the kitchen and dining room.
You’ll organise the pass, check every dish before it leaves the kitchen and direct food runners clearly and calmly.
You’ll understand table numbers, dietary requirements, menu pacing and what is happening across the restaurant at any given moment.
This role requires strong awareness, confident communication and the ability to remain composed when service is moving quickly.
Server Assistants and Food Runners
You’ll support the dining room through accurate food delivery, table maintenance, resets and the many details that keep service moving.
You’ll learn each dish, understand where it belongs and communicate closely with the pass and floor team. You’ll notice when water needs topping up, a table needs clearing or a teammate needs another pair of hands.
This is a strong starting point for someone who wants to learn restaurant service properly.
Bar Assistants
You’ll help keep the bar stocked, organised and prepared throughout service.
Your role will include preparing garnishes, managing glassware and ice, restocking and supporting the bartenders during busy periods.
You’ll learn how a busy restaurant bar operates, with the opportunity to develop into a bartending role as your knowledge and confidence grow.
Junior Front of House Team Members
Not every good hospitality career begins with experience.
For our junior positions, we’re looking for reliable people who listen well, move with purpose and feel comfortable speaking with guests and teammates.
We can teach you how the restaurant works. You’ll need to bring energy, curiosity and a willingness to learn.
Working at Marlowe
Every position is different, but everyone contributes to the same service.
You’ll be expected to:
There won’t be a divide between important and unimportant jobs. Pouring a bottle of wine, running food, resetting a table and polishing glassware are all part of the same service.
Who You Are
You genuinely enjoy restaurants and looking after people.
For our experienced positions, you’ll ideally bring:
For our junior and support positions, previous experience is helpful but not essential. Reliability, awareness and a good attitude will carry more weight than an impressive CV.
Across every role, we’re looking for people who take hospitality seriously without taking themselves too seriously.
Training and Development
Before opening, the team will spend time together learning the restaurant, tasting the menu and drinks, and practicing service in the space. You’ll understand what we serve, why we serve it and what’s expected in your role before we welcome our first guests.
Training will continue through regular menu briefings, tastings and practical development across food, wine, cocktails and restaurant service.
Experienced people will have room to refine their craft. Newer people will be taught properly.
