Calving Assistant

Our client looking for a reliable and hardworking Calving Assistant to join their team on a dairy farm near Ashburton for the upcoming calving season.

This is an initial 6-week position, with the possibility of extending the role for the right candidate.

About the Role

You'll be an important part of our calving team, helping to ensure both cows and calves receive the best possible care during this busy period. The work is varied, hands-on, and suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors as part of a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with calving and monitoring cows
• Caring for newborn calves, including feeding and general health checks
• Identifying and reporting any animal health concerns
• Maintaining high standards of animal welfare and hygiene
• General farm duties as required

• A positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Reliability and willingness to work flexible hours during the busy calving period
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Previous dairy or calving experience is an advantage but not essential—training can be provided for the right person
• A genuine interest in animal care and farming
