About the Role

Matheson Cafe is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Shift Supervisor to join our friendly team in beautiful Fox Glacier.

This is a full-time position in a busy café and restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon service to visitors from around the world. You'll work alongside a great team to deliver exceptional customer service while helping oversee the day-to-day operation of the restaurant.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead the front-of-house team during service.
• Deliver exceptional customer service.
• Coordinate food and beverage service with the kitchen.
• Train and support new team members.
• Prepare espresso coffee and beverages.
• Cash handling and POS operation.
• Open and close the restaurant.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
• Handle customer enquiries professionally.
• Lead by example and promote a positive team culture.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Previous experience in a hospitality supervisory role.
• Experience working in a busy café or restaurant.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong leadership and organisational skills.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure.
• Barista experience (preferred).
• LCQ or Duty Manager Certificate (an advantage).
