Farm assistant 

We are a family farm located in Omakau Central Otago, close to Queenstown and Wanaka, winter skiing, hiking, fishing, swimming and other outdoor areas. We require a fit and physically able person to help on our farm for 14-16 weeks from Early August 2026.

Tasks will involve moving cattle winter break fence, Driving large tractors on hills, riding working with cattle in cattleyards, planting riparian margins, care of new plants, assisting with feeding calves, animal health & hygiene and general care of our calves, Possably assist with milking's, weed control and general farm tasks. From time to time you will be required to help with other jobs on the farm. This job needs a person who is able to lift and move heavy items, is patient, calm and careful with our animals. You must be able to work as part of a team as well as unsupervised.  

The position has a minimum of six days per week and minimum 6 hours per day on a roster. You will be sharing accommodation with one other lad who works full time permanently on the farm.(Shared accommodation requires you to be clean, tidy easy going and have the ability to follow house rules). Having your own transport is recommended/essential as the farm is 7Km from local shops. For further information give us a call.

Medium scale (1700 cow (Combined two Farms) farm in Omakau central Otago. 

Two farms run together, dairy farm and heifer Grazing/beef fattening. 

Collars on cows so a wee bit tech savvy might help ( we are not) 

Need help from 22th July onwards ( could become permanent) 

MUST HAVE WHV AND BE IN NZ

Milking , collection of calves, tractor work, feeding calves , drenching, vaccinations, general stock work and farm maintenance.

Must have experience on a livestock farm  (few months or few years) 

Pay will be determined on your experience 

Supplied with jacket bib overalls and gummies and a warm jersey. 

Warm shared accommodation supplied.
