We’re on the lookout for some awesome kitchen humans to join our team at Awastone - a riverside campground, licensed cafe and adventure hub located on SH1 between Wellington and Taupo.

Whether you’re a seasoned cook, junior cook, baker, or an all-rounder - we want people who are willing to learn, help each other out, and have a bit of fun in the process. 

Our kitchen team gets to help shape the season’s cabinet goodness, support our summer menu, and work in a relaxed but busy space right next to the Rangitīkei River.

Here’s the kind of work we share across the kitchen crew

• Cooking & Service - Prepping and cooking meals from our “classic kiwi cafe style” menu, as well as bespoke catering for groups and schools. 
• Cabinet & Baking - Creating cabinet food like scones, muffins, slices, salads, and other daily specials
• Prep & Kitchen Support - Helping with daily prep, plating, cleaning, and keeping the kitchen humming
• Stock Management - Helping with ordering where needed and supporting stock control 
• Creative Input - Got a recipe or cabinet idea? We love team input and seasonal inspiration

What We’re Looking For

• Commercial Kitchen experience is awesome, but we’ll train the right people with a good attitude
• An eye for detail and cleanliness (we cook with aroha and take pride in what we serve)
• People who work hard, are adaptable, stay calm under pressure, and enjoy the ups and downs of kitchen mahi 
• Someone with a bit of spark - we love new ideas, fresh flavours, and teamwork
• Availability from October through to April/May when our cafe closes for the winter.
