Glasshouse And Packhouse Workers

Location : Dairy Flat

Forestburg Eggplant is looking for several packhouse/glasshouse workers to join our team! This position will be available from Tuesday 9th of April onwards for a minimum of 3 months (no less). You will be working Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4pm and the occasional public holiday. Minimum of 3 months required.

We are the largest eggplant growers in New Zealand, located in Dairy Flat, just 30kms north of Auckland. You will be joining a team of 20 people and help us get the work done in our glasshouses as well as the packhouse.

Forestburg Eggplant is currently supplying supermarkets and is dedicated to providing the best eggplant quality for our customers.

About the job:
As part of the glasshouse team, your jobs will include:
- Picking the eggplant using electric trolleys
- Pruning the plants (for those who are new to horticulture, it is removing smaller growth to optimise the growth of the whole plant)
- Twisting the plants (eggplant plants are thin and can grow tall! So we twist a string around the main stem to help them grow vertically without falling over)
- Pull out the old crops, clean the glasshouse to get it ready for planting the next eggplant generation !

If you end up working in the packhouse, your main duty will be:
- Grading the fruits
The fruits are processed through our grader where a team get the fruits out of a crate, inspect for damages and then send it through the machine. They then fall on tables where you will be in charge of packing them in crates.
- As we are not picking every day, you will also get to enjoy working in the glasshouse.

What are we looking for?

- You don’t need to be experienced for this role as training will be provided.
- Must have your own reliable transport
- Have the ability and motivation to do physical work
- Don’t mind working in the heat and with heights
- Be fit and able to stand for long periods and lift crates
- Must be eligible to work in New Zealand with a valid WHV or work visa.
- Have an IRD number and bank account

We do not provide accommodation. If you'd like to do some reasearch about it, it would be in the Albany/Silverdale/Orewa area. It is possible to find either rentals or areas to park your van around. Having your own vehicle is a must, as we are in the countryside and buses aren't reliable. Thank you and see you soon ! :)
