Stay with a friendly family in the Mackenzie Region and explore Mt Cook and Tekapo!
We're looking for either a couple or 2 to 3 friends to stay at our place from 25 September to 7 November. We're away on holiday from 2 to 8 October, and 19 October to 6 November. So during those dates you'll be looking after our house and 3 little dogs, as well as cleaning our rental cottage and cabin. There'll also be some supervision of our teenagers – not childcare as such, you'll just be the official adults in charge! Other jobs include cutting/stacking wood, and pulling out wilding pines.
A note on dates: you could do some side trips (Wanaka, Queenstown etc) while we're home but we need you to be at our place from 2 to 8 October, and 19 October to 6 November. That's when we're away.
The number of cottage/cabin cleans are to be confirmed but we pay $80 total per clean. We also provide accommodation and all meals.
About us and the property: We live on a beautiful 10-acre ecosanctuary, 17km from the town of Twizel. It's a 50-minute drive to Mt Cook or Tekapo, and a 5-min drive to Lake Ohau.
We're a nice, easy-going family with three kids (12, 14, 16) and 3 small friendly dogs (border terrier x Jack Russell). We've been hosting backpackers for 10 years now and really love meeting new people. :-) Your accommodation is in a sleepout with double bed, heater and TV. We also have a basic bunkroom with 2 bunkbeds if you don't want to share a room. The kitchen/shower/toilet are shared in our family home 20m away.
We've also got an amazing garage/lounge to hang out in, with video games, amazing DJ sound system & lights, musical instruments, board games, tons of movies, lounge chairs, TV lounge, and more. Must be seen to be believed!
This is a great chance to stay with a nice family (and save money!) in a beautiful part of New Zealand. It's perfect for exploring the amazing mountains and lakes nearby.
I hope to hear from you soon! :) Many thanks, Amy & Jason Menard (Hosts/Owners)
