Groundsperson And General Hand

If you have ever been to the Mt Cook / Mackenzie region, you will know it’s renowned for its spectacular landscapes and distinctive seasons.  Mt Cook Lakeside Retreat is an award winning luxury lodge located there, 600 metres above sea level on 66 ha.  

Over the past 14 years, the Retreat has restored natural plantings, developed gardens to provision the garden to plate kitchen operations and created areas for weddings, rest and revival.  

This is an important role in ensuring the Retreat always looks at its very best.  It is a position the right person will really take pride in, knowing their contribution matters.  We are looking for an individual who has a 'can-do' attitude.  Attention to detail, pride in your work, and a willingness to adapt and be flexible are crucial.  You will be a valued member of a highly professional team, undertaking varied tasks including:

Duties

• Delivering the weekly gardens and grounds maintenance schedule.
• General handyman duties
• Planting, weed control (including wilding tree control) and mowing and maintaining the Retreat’s lawns.
• Following sustainable practices including, composting, organic growing and leading our native restoration programme.
• General labouring including tasks such as general maintenance and cleaning of buildings and facilities.
• Plan and assist with jobs on the Retreat’s weekly and monthly facilities maintenance schedules including: the Villas, Moraine Lodge; the Wine cellar & observatory; Tennis Court, Petanque Court and the Homestead. 
• Assistance with set up for weddings, conferences and other events when needed.
• Manaakitanga - assist with other duties as required to make the guest experience a welcoming, friendly, high quality and safe stay.
• We are a friendly team and focused on working together and you will enjoy the variety of the role, coupled with the ability to problem solve.
• Be an active member of the team. 

Qualifications and Experience
Experienced in farmwork or groundswork including chainsaw use and will be competent to undertake minor mechanical tasks. 

Details:

Remuneration: $29.50 - $31 per hour based on your experience and performance. 

Location of Work: 86 Mt Cook Road, Lake Pukaki, Ben Ohau 7999

Minimum Hours: 30 hours per week
