Horse Handling

Horse Handler /Trainer.

We are a farming family operating a 450ha hill country sheep and beef property near Gisborne that enjoy sharing rural life with overseas backpackers / travelers.

Position available for overseas travelers (one or more) wishing to experience rural NZ, working voluntarily in exchange for food and accommodation.

Job description includes help with basic handling and riding of young horses. Ages are from newborn foals to 4yr old. Breed include some iconic sporthorse bloodlines, sound temperament with significant trekking and show potential. Experience with handling horses essential, All young horses have had a basic handling foundation.

Although generally not a paid position wages are available through some farm work. The position is more related to opportunity and experience.

Accomodation consists of a comfortable farm cottage with all essential facilities, food supplied.
