Our Taupo operation is looking for a sous chef to assist in the running of the fresh start up Tex Mex food Venture in Taupo CBD, Tejano Cantina! 

The applicant will be expected to assist in the running of the day to day operations of the kitchen. Ensure the quality of the food is up to an exceptional standard and we are looking for someone who can consistantly produce this food in a busy environment. We are looking for an individual with the passion and drive for creating a successful new venture!

Skills we require:

  • Senior experience in a notable kitchen environment.
  • Clear understanding of sous Chef responsibility.
  • Manage and maintain all sections of the kitchen.
  • Contribute to the development and training of the kitchen team.
  • Ordering of stock in accordance of business requirements.
  • Creatively contribute to menu changes and restaurant specials.
  • Wastage control, tracking and stock management (rotation & stock takes).
  • Experience of people management 
  • Working to a Food Control Plan
  • Experience of working with and creating a Latin American Menu is preferable
  •  3 Plus years of working in an experienced Chef position

The role will be a full time position and the role will include split shifts and weekend work.

Rate of pay $20-22 per hour. 

All candidates must have work rights for New Zealand.
