Job Description:


The position is for a Head Chef in a Gastro Pub Setting. The business being called 'The Last Post'. The Owner is an experienced business owner who is also a Chef himself and he at times helps with things in the kitchen when it gets busy. The owner is wanting someone with experience running their own kitchen and also someone who really wants to push the business forward.You will also need to be able to develop new menus, ordering and rostering. The owner is looking at seasonal menus.


They average 80-100 Covers a night. It is a business which is quite well known in Oamaru and is popular with locals and visitors. The owner really wants to build the reputation of the pub with Locals. You will be running lunch and Dinners.


You will be running a small team of 2 chefs and a kitchen hand. Experience running the pass and line cooking experience working the grill is a must. You will also need to be comfortable making stocks, sauces, breads and pastry from scratch.


As a leader and Head Chef you will need to be able to encourage the team and be able to work with an owner who is particular and honest in their critique.


Salary is 45-50k Full time, 2 days off in a row. Extra hours worked are paid at over and above salary. There is some flexibility with the salary and the owner is open to reviewing this upon speaking with you and seeing you in action.
