Region: Christchurch & Canterbury Experience: No Experience Necessary

Looking for a rehab assistance/support person for a 35 year old male recovering from a car accident.

Hours available..... (this is a bit difficult to explain, there are really no set hours, it’s a fixed weekly amount and a lot of down time where you can relax or go to the lake, it’s more for me to have someone around incase I need assistance)

A rough guide - max 60 hours per week. Start and finish times will vary.
Monday to Friday 8 hours per day, flexible start and finish time
Saturday and Sunday 9am til whenever.

Would ideally suit someone, maybe a couple, or two friends who are motivated, clean, are interested in exercise and enjoy food.
Is sociable and has good chat.
Likes the outdoors and is able to relax and have a drink.
Might suit someone doing an OE or similar.

Has generally been a live in arrangement with all living costs/expenses included.

Would not suit someone who is lazy or untidy

Daily tasks would include:
- Assistance with passive stretching and rehab exercizes, light strength training, pilates, swimming. All at home.
- Meal preparation (you don't need to be a chef but would be good if cooking was something you are interested in)
- general house work, cleaning, laundry

- Walking, feeding, entertaining Chocolate Labrador . House trained

No personal cares required.

No previous experience necessary.
English speaking please
Must be a NZ resident or hold the appropriate work visa.

Ideally hold a full drivers license
Prefer people who are looking for something no shorter than 3 months ideally.

Happy to arrange for you to speak with previous employees and can email more specifics if you like.

Position available from 20th October

The accommodation is a modern 4 bedroom home with 2 bathrooms.

I have an ensuite off my room and you would have your own bathroom 95% of the time. (you would share if I have guests staying)

There is a 3rd separate toilet.

There is a large kitchen/living area, deck overlooking the lake, private courtyard with heated in ground swimming pool, outdoor fireplace, spa bath and gym area.

Tekapo village is small and very much centred around tourism with the surrounding area being high country sheep and beef farms.

It’s 1hr drive to Mt Cook national park, 2hrs to Wanaka and 3 hours to Christchurch.

I would describe the town as small, very safe and pretty peaceful with pretty amazing scenery.

The house and grounds are very secure and Oscar the Labrador lets you know if anyone even walks up the street.

I live in the house by myself (plus you) I grew up locally so have a lot of friends and family in the area.

I haven’t worked since my accident but previously I worked for a bank as a foreign exchange dealer.

I have either Physio or personal trainer visit 4 days a week so for now rehab is still my job I guess.

I broke my neck in the accident and suffered spinal damage. I’m a C5 ASIA D tetraplegic, I am able to walk around the house with a frame or crutches and can drive my car/boat etc. Fatigue is probably my biggest challenge. I require assistance with a manual wheelchair when out in public

Things I enjoy include wine, whiskey, horse racing, jet boating, fishing. I read, listen to music, watch movies while I’m resting and build LEGO models as part of my occupational therapy. To improve hand function and concentration.
